Application Process Guidelines

Approved Practice Setting (APS)

• Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates licenses a healthcare facility to deliver healthcare education & training programs. Czech Rehabilitation Hospital is a licensed by DOH for Approved Practice setting programs. APS are three types. 1. Basic 2. Intermediate 3. Advanced.
• APS Basic (CRH has DOH approval. (Apply Please)
• Undergraduate Training: A time-limited supervised clinical clerkship that a student is obliged to complete as part of an undergraduate medical or health sciences educational program.
• Observership: A time limited period where an individual gets the opportunity to witness how health workforce members exercise their roles and responsibilities in the healthcare system without assuming any role int h delivery of patient’s care.
• APS Intermediate (CRH application is under DOH approval process. Do Not Apply)
• Undergraduate Training and Observership as per APS Basic.
• Internship: An internship is a period of supervised training required for graduates following graduation to enhance and improve their competencies.
• Clinical Training: A structured supervised hands-on-training program delivered in APS-Intermediate for APS advanced to healthcare professionals who have experience-related training needs (i.e. following a period of discontinuity of practice, attending an experience equivalency training, enhancing existing skills, etc.
• APS Advance (Do Not Apply)
• All above & include Residency & Fellowship training.
• Residency Training: An on-the-job specialty training for graduates of medical dental or other healthcare science programs (after obtaining a bachelor’s degree). An exit examination marks its completion.
• Fellowship Training: A subspeciality training for graduated residents who wish to enhance their knowledge in particular area withing their specialty. It consists of on-the-job training (usually for 1-2 years). An exit examination marks its completion.

Completion of application

• The process for the application will only begin once all the required documents are completed and validated by the CRH academic & HR team.

Deadlines for the application:

• Application ideally  be submitted at least 8 weeks before the requested APS program  start date.
• Application submitted between 2-8 weeks before the requested APS program start date has less chance of acceptance.
• Application submitted less than 2 weeks before the start date of the application program, will have less chance of approval.  

Duration of program:

• The minimum duration for an APS (basic) program is 2 weeks. 
• CRH prefers to enroll applicants for maximum 12 weeks in any of the APS (basic) program.
• The higher duration of APS program (basic or intermediate) shall only be approved after considering the applicant requirements & CRH feasibility.
• CRH Academic Director/Program Director has the right to decide on the total duration of the APS program to offer the applicant without any legal obligation. Training start date:
• Preferred start dates will always be subject to the approval of the preceptor/faculty member of the applicant specialty of interest.
• APS program usually  starts on any Monday of the month.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant who are eligible to apply to CRH’s APS program  include:

• Students enrolled in a Health Professional School
• Interns enrolled in an Internship Program
• Graduate Healthcare professional medical and allied specialties
• Graduated interns
• Residents or Fellows enrolled in a Residency or Fellowship Program
• Licensed Clinicians seeking to enhance a specific skill or qualification for the purpose of examination.

All applicants will need to submit and upload the following documents. Must be in PDF Format and must only be in 1 attachment. Zipped files will not be accepted.

• Completed online application
• Passport Copy (clear and colored copy)
• Residency Visa Copy for Non-UAE Nationals (UAE Residents only)
• Emirates ID (front & back) (UAE Residents only)
• 1 Photo (Passport Size)
• Health Insurance Copy
• Occupational Health requirements* (see below)

Supplemental Application Requirements

Medical Students, Interns, Residents, and Post-Graduate Students

• CV
• Letter of Intent (Cover Letter)
• 1 Letters of Recommendation (from the chairperson/section head or direct supervisor) Written in official letter head and duly signed.
• Letter of Endorsement from Dean / Program Director (should include learning objectives) Written in official letter head and duly signed.

Health Professionals (Physician, Allied Health, Nursing)

• CV
• Letter of Intent (cover letter)
• 1 Letters of Recommendation (from the chairperson/section head or direct supervisor) Written in official letter head and duly signed.
• Letter of Endorsement from Home Institution (Written in official letter head and duly signed)

Occupational Health Requirements*

Once applicant application is approved and applicant is enrolled in the APS program, it is taken as confirmation from the applicant that in case of any illness during period of APS training, applicant will be responsible for bearing all the expenses spent on the treatment of the illness. Czech Rehabilitation Hospital will bear no financial or legal obligation toward applicant for any financial payment (partly or full) in this regard.

The Czech Rehabilitation Hospital highly recommends that applicant must have the health insurance providing health coverage in UAE during the training period.

In the absence of health insurance, applicant must sign an  undertaking that in case of any illness, applicant will not hold Czech Rehabilitation Hospital responsible & exonerate hospital management from any legal or financial liability.

Hepatitis B Vaccination and or Hepatitis B Antibody Titer Test/Other Diseases:

Hepatitis B vaccination requirement (Proof of vaccine), and Hepatitis B antibody titer is required (not mandatory) before joining the APS program. Irrespective of the availability of the evidence of Hepatitis B vaccination or protective Hepatitis B titer (>10mIU/ml) , the applicant must provide an undertaking that it absolves Czech Rehabilitation Hospital from any legal or financial obligation if acquire or diagnose with any medical illness (infectious or noninfectious) during the APS training period. 

Important Notice

Please read carefully.

• All INCOMPLETE submitted applications will be automatically deleted from CRH  system. Please take time to fill in the form and to upload the required documents.
• Only after the confirmation of the applicant enrollment  in the APS program by the Academic or Program Director, applicant can join the program. Applicant will be informed only by email at the address provided by the applicant. Reply to the confirmatory email of the Academic/ Program director must be done by the applicant as an acknowledgment of the program joining on the assigned date.
• Failure to reply to confirmatory emails from the Academic/Program Director in 5 working days may lead to cancellation of applicant enrollment from the program.
• APS program is a training program and it’s not an employment program.
• Applicant will not receive any financial support, worker’s compensation, housing, insurance coverage, transportation, lodging and boarding or any other compensation from CRH.
• Applicant must follow all bylaws, procedures, and policies implemented at CRH.
• Applicant must follow patient confidentiality as outlined in policy “Confidentiality of Patient Health Information”.
• Applicant must  bring their own white coats and comply with professional dress code which is business attire.
• In any case applicant fails to complete enrolled APS program , the certificate of completion will not be issued.  If incompletion is due to hospitalization or serious sickness, Academic Director/Program Director can be contacted to complete the lost period of training. Evidence of hospitalization or serious sickness will be required.

CRH has a sole right to terminate the APS program  at its own discretion. This decision cannot be challenged by any applicant in any legal or regulatory forum of UAE.
