In the event a patient’s ability to perform everyday activities has been hindered as a result of injury, illness, accident or surgery, Czech Rehabilitation Hospital Occupational Therapist (OT) will be referred to help regain the ability to perform the tasks that are most important to the patient.
The OT will work amongst Czech Rehabilitation Hospital multidisciplinary team to offer services

including but not limited to:

  • Improving fine motor skills to better perform activities of daily living
    (i.e. dressing, bathing, writing, eating and preparing meals)
  • Prescribing equipment such as gait aids to increase functional mobility
  • Prescribing specialized equipment such as seating, bedding or utensils to increase functional abilities
  • Performing home safety assessments and making equipment suggestions
  • Assisting with community navigation using a wheelchair or gait aid
  • Splinting for hand injuries or other orthopedic conditions
  • Assessing and treating individuals with mental health conditions
  • Conducting driving assessments
  • Maximizing the patient’s functional independence within his or her home
  • Increasing the patient’s and caregiver’s knowledge of proper therapeutic techniques
